I think Thanos is complex character, which is probably why people think he lacked character. He is a Titan who is out to destroy the known universe and needs the stones and the gauntlet to do it  green arrow and black canary costumes . Thanos is beguiled by the soul stone and exists in a universe of his own machination through his use of the reality stone. I can't see any way out of that for the franchise with the possible exception of Thanos being so distraught over Gamora he undoes what he did realizing that killing half the universe hurts the half he left living as much as he hurts over sacrificing Gamora’s soul black canary costumes. I was in a similar situation. I hadn't watched any of the 18 movies that came prior to Infinity War, but I still went on to watch the movie, just to see what the hype was all about  green arrow and black canary costumes . This suit looks like a combination of his bleeding edge armor but using the nanite technology where the armor is actually being stored inside of him in the “hollows” of his bones.
